LOS ANGELES, Jan. 18 (UPI) — Rapper and actor LL Cool J is to serve as host of the 54th annual Grammy Awards show in Los Angeles, organizers said Wednesday.
This will mark the first time in seven years that the music industry event will have an official host. Queen Latifah was the last celebrity to preside over the show.
This year’s prize presentation at the Staples Center is to air Feb. 12 on CBS.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of music’s biggest night,” LL Cool J said in a statement. “I will always have fond memories of my first Grammy Awards and to now be hosting the Grammy show, in the company of so many other incredible artists, is a dream come true.

PASADENA, Calif. (AP) – The chief of the FX network says he still hasn’t seen a script for Charlie Sheen’s new comedy “Anger Management,” which is scheduled to debut in June.
FX’s John Landgraf said Sunday that’s a little unusual for the cable network. FX almost never orders series without seeing a pilot episode, much less a script, in advance. But it still decided to take a risk with the actor who Landgraf said had “probably the most epic meltdown in the history of television.”
But the network president said he believes FX is catching Sheen at the right time, when the actor is hungry for redemption. There’s also the chance for a big payday if it all works out.

The band said it will now travel to the United Kingdom to continue to work with Iommi.
In November the four original members of Sabbath — Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward — announced they were recording a new album with producer Rick Rubin and would tour in the fall of 2012.

Ben Sherwood, the president of the networks news division, told reporters Monday that viewers will see a lot of Couric before the September launch of her daytime chat fest.
“Were going to showcase her all over the place,” Sherwood told reporters at the semiannual TV press tour in Pasadena.
In fact, ABC is already making good on that pledge. Couric recently showed up on “20/20″ to interview pop diva Beyonce and even found an unlikely role as Lady Gagas interrogator on a Thanksgiving special.

At the “Mars Terraforming Table,” visitors can launch an eco-revolution, turning the red planet into a habitable earth outpost.STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — How many museums let you play God?
The option arises more than once at the American Museum of Natural History’s new show, “Beyond Planet Earth: The Future of Space Exploration.”
The best might be the “Mars Terraforming Table,” a play station that starts as a wide touchscreen depicting a Martian panorama, dry, red and barren. The vista changes depending on the instructions. The idea is to “terraform” inhospitable Mars, tweak it until it becomes earth-like, a big job but apparently doable.
