Today, 8 p.m.: Bear Hands, an indie/post-punk band from Brooklyn, will perform “High Society” and other tunes off its debut CD, “Burning Bush Supper Club.” Polaris at Noon also will perform.

Saturday, 8 p.m.: Ozomatli, the Grammy-winning Latin fusion collective from Los Angeles, likes to spice its powerful musical brew with funk, reggae, hip-hop, cumbia and salsa rhythms. “Fire Away,” the group’s 2010 release, has a weightier feel but holds onto Ozomatli’s trademark: topical subject matter (overconsumption, gay marriage) set to global dance beats.

Since he was surfing in a region where the authorities did not have the amenities or capabilities to conduct a full scale search and rescue mission, his family had set up a PayPal account to help raise money to fund a search.

Optimistic? The guy is utterly ecstatic, positively rapturous for what awaits him and the other three members of Neverest. Part of it is youth, of course, that cock-eyed, charmed blind spot. But there really is an impressive momentum going on here. The Toronto pop band released their first single, “About Us,” last October, and boom! It went to No.
